Yellow Wagtails!!!?

Another slight diversion from my Texas trip report!

It's always hard to re-adjust after another epic trip BUT things are happening here also. Oh...and there's work as well!!

Got home from an early shift at 3 today and took Bud for a much needed stretch. Yesterday I'd seen a "funny" Yellow Wagtail briefly on a farm track to the North of the Village...

This BOC shot shows a "greyish" head with a yellow throat. It was taken against the light so the actual shade of grey/blue is difficult to assess accurately. Anyway, not your standard "flavissima". Looking at the Collins plate...

Not the clearest, but you get the idea. Plenty of variation...as I found out in Cyprus!

For me it seems to be some sort of intergrade. Not Blue/Rich enough for Blue-headed and it doesn't have the white throat of a "Channel" (a name given to Flavissima/Flava intergrades).

Not being a "guru" on the subject (or anything else for that matter) I'll point you to an article from Birdguides on the subject...

An interesting bird for the Village nonetheless...
