First visit on Wednesday. Met Elaine in the Car Park which was a nice start! River level still high but the Carrs level was reasonable allowing some fringe Habitat...
A lovely Great White Egret obligingly landed as close as I've ever seen one here.
A couple of Drake Scaup had been reported recently and I eventually located them, albeit distantly...and asleep.
Huge numbers (c150) of Whooper Swans were present, also distantly, on Ellerton Ings.
The WHITE-TAILED EAGLE had been reported at Aughton earlier (great to hear it is still around after my absence) but it failed to show during my 3 hour vigil and as a consequence didn't go onto my 2026 List.
A lone Greater Black-backed Gull lingering on the Riverbank was notable, as were 15 Ruff at the far end by the bend.
Nice to see Winter Thrushes still around. Fieldfare c50, Redwing c10.
A modest 36 Species to get the ball rolling...
It's taken the old boy a bit of re-adjusting after my epic Desert Adventure. I'll continue my reporting in the near future... Stay tuned...
